If you've never read any of his works, I recommend you do. "Blindness" might have been a horrible movie, but it was a strange and wonderful book. And I just re-read "Baltasar and Blimunda" a couple months ago. I hate to use the term magic realism, but it applies perfectly to B&B, which is both wonderful and fantastically crude.
